We spend many weekends in Shawnee National Forest camping with the horses. Buzzard's Roost is a favorite resting spot and is easily reached when riding out of Little Lusk Trail Lodge.

I discovered this favorite camping spot in 1998 and spend time with them several times every year. Peggy and Lonnie Barger are very active in the equine world. They've sponsored and hosted several benefits or other equine event. If riding Shawnee National Forest, in southern Illinois, give them a try, you'll love the facilities.

Cattle Drive on the Don Miller ranch in TEXAS
I had always dreamed of going on a cattle drive and browsed many brochures that asked you to pay big fees to work for them. I had put the notion on the back burner and called it a "dream", something I really never expected to come true. Let me tell you, if you have ever had a DREAM, do what you can to realize it. I DID go on a real cattle drive and experienced things I never thought I would, and the greatest is coming to realize I had just experienced a DREAM and that in itself is quite a feat. As the sun set, the emotions were overwhelming, knowing a good job was done and knowing I could mark that one off my list! My advise to you is........GO FOR IT!
